Privileges of Disabled (OKU) Cardholders

Some of you may not know what is the benefits to have a registration card for disabled person or also known as OKU (Orang Kurang Upaya) by Malaysian people..

Please find below info for your reference:

1. Disabilities Categories

- Hearing disabilities
- Visually disabilities
- Physical disabilities
- Speech disabilities
- Learning problem
- Mental disabilities
- Multiple disabilities

2. Handicap (OKU) Card

- Handicap cards are indentification issued to persons with disabilities registered with the department to facilitate their dealings with other parties.

- The cards are divided into 7 different color as following according to the capabilities cases cataegories,
  1. Visual - Blue
  2. Hearing - Purple
  3. Physical - Green
  4. Speech - Brown
  5. Learning Problem - Yellow
  6. Mental - White
  7. Multiple - Red
3. OKU Registration Forms

- Types of forms,
  1. Children Disabilities registration form (0-18 years old)
  2. Disabilities registration form (18 years old and above)
4. Application of Registration

- Application may be made in any social welfare office.

- Bring along 3 passport size photographs and supporting document such as birth certificates or identity card.

5. Registration Requirement

- Malaysian citizen

- Verified / Certified by a medical officer from General / Private hospitals or Psychiatrists.

6. Services and Privileges

- Registration of Handicap (OKU) Card
- Artificial aids
- Launching grant
- Allowance for disable workers
- Work placement
- Internal care and rehabilitation
- Instituition and workshops
- Vocational training and medical rehabilitation
- Rehabilitation program in community (PDK)
